Sumba – Bali Itinerary Summary

 

This is a sample itinerary showcasing the highlights between Sumba, Komodo, Sumbawa, Lombok and Bali. The cruise departs from Sumba, located about an hour flight from Bali.

Activities in this itinerary include snorkeling in crystal clear waters, a few light treks, water sports, snorkeling or diving and plenty of beach time. Each private charter itinerary is custom made according to guest preferences.

 

SUMBA – BALI ITINERARY ON RASCAL

Activities: Dragon Sightings, Trekking, Diving or Snorkeling and Beach Time

Day 1: Sumba – Nusa Kode

 

Board Rascal in the morning at Waikelo port, about an hour and a half from Nihiwatu. Lift anchor and set course for Komodo, about a 6-hour crossing to Nusa Kode.

In the afternoon, arrive in Nusa Kode, one of Komodo’s most impressive and isolated areas, where the dragons roam the beach. Take a tender safari to see the dragons up close.

Dinner onboard and spend the night in spectacular anchorage surrounded by the cliffs of Nusa Kode.

Day 2: Nusa Kode – Padar Island

 

Start the morning by going to see the dragons again on the beach in the morning light.

Do your first check dive or snorkel at Cannibal Rock then proceed to move to Padar Island, one of Komodo’s most breathtaking hikes offering a view of three bays.

Anchor at Padar and have the choice of going for the scenic hike at sunset or walking along and relaxing on the white sand beaches.

In the meanwhile, the crew will begin preparations for a beach BBQ that will be ready at sunset.

 

Day 3: Padar Island – Gili Lawa

 

Hike to Padar’s breathtaking peak at sunrise if it was skipped the day before.

Visit Rinca or Komodo ranger stations to do a guided trek through dragon territory to see their natural element with an experienced, English-speaking park ranger. It will also be possible to see water buffalo and deer, which constitute the main meals of the dragons.

Over lunch, cruise to Makassar Reef, where it’s possible to snorkel with manta rays.

In the afternoon, head to Gili Lawa for anchorage and have the option of hiking Gili Lawa or try some world class dives or snorkel sites in the vicinity.

Day 4: Gili Lawa – Satonda Island

 

Optional morning hike to the peak of Gili Lawa at sunrise before lifting anchor for a beautiful snorkel or dive at Batu Monco.

Raise anchor and continue north out of the park to Gili Banta which is gorgeous for kayaking, a dinghy safari through the distinct natural peninsulas or even fishing just outside of the park.

Dinner at a a quiet anchorage before a night crossing to Satonda Island.

 

Day 5: Satonda Island – Moyo Island

 

Arrive at Satonda by the early morning, which is a dormant volcano with a crater lake ideal for kayaking. Try the Satonda Slope dive site or go for a walk along the bay.

During lunch, make a three hour crossing to Moyo Island. Head onshore at Labuan Aji village to start a trek to Madjewi waterfall, which was visited by Princess Diana.

Day 6: Moyo Island – Gili Islands

 

Go for an early morning dive or snorkel at Labuan Aji reef or Crocodile Head. Spend a relaxing day exploring the private island sanctuary at Moyo by visiting another waterfall or engaging in water sports.

Dinner onboard before lifting anchor for an over night crossing to the Gili Islands.

Day 7: Gili Islands

 

Wake up at Gili Air for snorkeling, diving if desired, then head down to Gili Gede over lunch to see more turquoise water and white sandy beaches.

Grande finale dinner BBQ at Gili Gede on a stunning beach.

Day 8: Gili Islands – Bali

Lift anchor from Gili Gede and head to Bali. Arrive in Bali around late morning or noon, depending on guest preferences.

Disembark for flight home or accommodation in Bali. Begin planning your next Rascal adventure.

Inclusions & Exclusions

 

Inclusions:

All onboard meals and refreshments excluding alcohol, unlimited activities including diving, snorkeling, use of sea kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, and fishing gear (where permissible by local regulations).

A total of 50 nautical miles per charter day (50 Nm) is included in the price of the cruise itinerary. Without additional cost, nautical miles can be accumulated as long as they don’t exceed the total of 50 Nn multiplied by the number of charter days.

Exclusions:

Crew gratuity, airfare, visas, alcoholic beverages, dive certification courses, medical care, insurance and telecommunication costs for satellite phone.

Repositioning fees may apply according to seasons and charter destinations.
