We finally decided to do a kids trip to Raja Ampat with our 2 and 4-year-olds and put their swimming lessons to the test.

The route we crafted took us to Friwin first, which is a stunning white sand beach. On the second morning, we had the most amazing snorkel at Yenbuba jetty where our daughter saw a turtle and was absolutely ecstatic about the amount of fish.

We continued on to Yeben where we snorkeled with baby sharks and then cruised up to Wofoh for the ultimate beach set up.

For us as parents, it was exactly the kind of restful holiday we needed and made for incredible memories. We quickly found a rhythm that worked for the kids and could have very easily stayed more than a week on board.

Crossing Ambon to Sorong

During this trip, you can dive in 3 different amazing areas. Starting in Ambon and then crossing Banda Sea until arriving to Raja Ampat. Diving in these 3 places you can see a little bit of everything. In Ambon, you will have muck diving and incredible critters. In Banda Sea (scalloped hammerheads if you are in the right season), crystal clear waters, huge snake eels, school of fishes, amazing walls, stunning drop-offs, and healthy coral reefs, and in Raja Ampat, you can dive with a huge amount of fish, incredible corals, and clear waters. Raja Ampat is one of the most impressive biodiverse diving destinations in the world.

Diving Raja Ampat

Raja Ampat or the “Four Kings” cover an area of over forty thousand kilometers. The area includes the largest of Indonesia’s marine parks. 75% of the world’s coral species can be found here and those reefs contain 25% of the world’s marine fish species. But above all Raja Ampat was a life experience to me in many senses. If I have to pick a place of all the dive sites I dove in this 20 years, It would be Raja Ampat.
